We envision a future where biotechnology plays a crucial role in fostering a healthier, more sustainable world. By unlocking the potential of cyanobacteria, we strive to make significant contributions to human health, environmental preservation and the advancement of sciences.
Classification details: Botanists refer to Spirulina as blue green-algae, Microbiologists categorize it as cyanobacteria, due to green chlorophyll and blue colour due to phycobilisomes and prokaryotic characteristics.
Spirulina has been approved as Best Food for the Future in 1974 by the United Nations (ibid). It is also coined as the Super Food of the World (ibid). It is considered as the richest nutrient containing food on earth. As per UN World Food Conference at Geneva, Switzerland 8th June 1993, it is nutrient dense and Safe for Children.
Oxygen Layer Created by Cyanobacteria first: Cyanobacteria transformed the Earth’s early reducing atmosphere into an oxidizing one by producing oxygen; a byproduct of photosynthesis, causing the "rusting of the Earth" and causing the Great Oxygenation Event, that dramatically changed the composition of life forms on Earth by stimulating biodiversity and leading to the near-extinction of anaerobic (oxygen-intolerant) organisms (Schirrmeister et. al., 2013). Even today 70% oxygen is generated by algae on earth.
Cyanobacteria, evolutionary precursor of plants In 1960 Lynn Margulis established Endo-symbiotic Theory, explaining how plants evolved from photosynthetic bacteria like cyanobacteria, animals and fungi from fermenting, swimming, oxygen breathing bacteria.
Schirrmeister, B. E. et al.: Evolution of multicellularity coincided with increased diversification of cyanobacteria and the Great Oxidation Event, PNAS, 110(5), 1791–1796, 2013.
From centuries together Cannebu Tribes have been harvesting, drying and adding Spirulina powder in their food, an anecdotal evidence of Spirulina consumption being safe and healthier for human beings through history. Japanese too have been consuming algae from ancient times (last known 2700b.C.) An average Japanese consumes ~1400g of algae per person per annum. This might be an important contributor to the highest average life expectancy of 83 years in Japan.
The benefits of Spirulina for radiation treatment really came to light just after 1986 when the Chernobyl reactor melted down, near the Belarus border of Ukraine, affecting victims with Leukemia, Cancer etc. The Belarus Ministry of Health concluded that Spirulina accelerates the evacuation of radionuclides from the human body, without any adverse side effects.

Join us at Cyanohealth Pvt Ltd as we pave the way for a healthier, greener future through the power of cyanobacteria. Together, we can make a difference.
We are a group of passionate scientists and researchers from diverse disciplines who have came together to establish a multi- and intra-disciplinary research centre. Over time, research enthusiasts from various fields have approached us to pursue meaningful projects in their respective areas. As our first step, we identified and sequenced the major challenges faced by our country and society — with nutritional issues emerging at the top of our list. This led us to initiate focused research projects addressing nutrition from multiple dimensions.
Since 2016, our dedicated team has been at the forefront of research on malnourishment. Our extensive work includes publishing books, papers, articles and presentations, participating in numerous conferences. conducting health camps and study tours. We continue to raise awareness amongst students and the public through our Poshan Sanvad (Nutrition Dialogue) Program, available both offline and online. These resources can be accessed on our YouTube channels, scienotrophs (formerly Cyanofarm) and Poshan Sanvad (Nutrition Dialogue), as well as on our Facebook and Instagram handles @cyanohealth @productbyscientists and @scienotrophs.
Understanding the roots of malnourishment has driven us to take action beyond research. Recognizing our moral responsibility to develop tangible solutions, we established our startup, Cyanohealth Pvt Ltd, to provide these solutions commercially. Our commitment is reflected in our range of health-focused products, which emphasize natural ingredients, minimal processing, and the exclusion of artificial additives, ensuring that our offerings contribute to better health and nutrition for all.
